The steps
The editor’s steps depend on the survey’s channel, and each step shows its name in the editor’s header.- Channel: where the survey runs, Website, Link & QR or Email. The channel can be changed at any time, and each channel’s settings are kept, so switching to another channel and back loses nothing.
- Survey: the survey itself, in four tabs:
- Content: questions, added with Add question from the question types, reordered and configured.
- Appearance: the theme and the survey’s Display settings. See Design.
- Text & languages: every visitor-facing text, such as buttons, headers and the thank-you screen. Languages are added from the language menu in the editor’s header.
- Settings: After submit (a redirect to your own page), the survey Timer, Anonymous responses under Privacy, and the Powered by Usertick badge.
- Targeting on a website survey: its triggers and targeting rules. Email on an email survey: the message design, see Email campaigns. Link & QR surveys have no step here.
- Publish on a website survey, where the survey’s site is selected, or Share on the other channels, with the link and the QR code.
Send responses to your tools
Where responses go after they arrive isn’t set in the editor. A workflow sends a published survey’s responses to your connected tools and webhooks, and it is set up on the Workflows page.- After a website, link or QR survey is published for the first time, Usertick asks Send responses to your tools?, and Add workflow starts a workflow for that survey. The question appears on the Starter plan and above, for members with the Manage workflows permission.
- When a new version removes or changes a question, option or variant that a workflow reads, Usertick pauses that workflow and names it after publishing. Open workflows lists the survey’s workflows, and a paused workflow runs again after it is edited and published.
Drafts and publishing
- Every change is saved as a draft shortly after you make it, and the header shows when the draft was last saved.
- Publishing is a separate action. A draft never reaches visitors, and edits to a live survey keep the live version running until you select Publish changes.
- Before publishing, Usertick checks the survey and lists anything that blocks it, such as an empty question, a missing channel setting or a feature your plan doesn’t include. A step with a blocking issue is marked in the step list.
- From the keyboard, Ctrl S saves the draft now, and Ctrl Enter does what the main button in the header does: Next step, and Publish on the last step. On a Mac, press Cmd in place of Ctrl. Keyboard shortcuts lists the rest.
