The Sender page under Email sets where survey emails are sent from. By default, Usertick sends them within your plan’s monthly allowance, with no email provider to set up. An organization can connect its own provider instead.
This page covers survey emails only. Account emails, such as sign-in links, password resets and invitations, are not affected.
Editing the sender needs the Manage organization permission. Other members see a read-only summary of the sender.

Send through Usertick

Under Select where email is sent from, Usertick is the first option. Before the first send, it needs these details:
  • Display name: recipients see the email as from ” via Usertick”.
  • Replies go to: a person in your organization who receives replies.
  • Legal name and Postal address: shown in the footer of every email.
  • The sending terms: a confirmation that the people you email agreed to hear from you and that the list is not bought, rented or scraped.
Send yourself a test (optional) sends a test to your own address. Usertick sends test emails only to members of your organization. For the first 14 days after the terms are accepted, Usertick sends up to 100 emails a day. This month’s emails on the Sender page shows the use so far, and emails sent through your own provider don’t count. If too many recent emails bounce or are marked as spam, Usertick pauses sending, and the Sender page says so until support resumes it. Emails sent through Usertick can contain links and web addresses only for your survey and for websites where your Usertick widget runs. A web address that is only written in the text counts like a link, because mail apps turn it into one. Usertick refuses a send or a test that contains another link or address. When the address comes from a contact’s field, such as {{attr.company}}, only that contact isn’t emailed, and the send’s page shows the recipient as failed. Emails sent through your own provider have no such rule.

Connect your own provider

1

Select the provider

On the Sender page, select Use your own email provider, then Custom SMTP, Resend, Mailgun or SendGrid.
2

Add the details

Under Add the details, enter the From name and From email, and the provider’s settings: the SMTP host, Port, Username, Encryption and SMTP password for SMTP, an API key for Resend, an API key and Region for SendGrid, or an API key, Sending domain and Region for Mailgun. For SMTP, Usertick connects on port 587, 465 or 2525.
3

Save

Select Save. The secret is stored encrypted and never shown again; the page shows only that a secret is saved.
4

Send a test

Under Send yourself a test, select Send verification email. After the message is sent, the sender shows Verified with the date.
A provider sends survey emails only after its test email goes through. Until then, the page says “The provider is connected but not verified yet”, and Usertick refuses a send or a survey test email. Saving a change to the details clears the verification, so survey emails stop until another test goes through. A send that was scheduled earlier fails if its time comes before that test.

Switch back to Usertick

Switch to Usertick moves sending back to Usertick. The provider’s key is removed, so switching to the provider again requires adding the key again.
