Every platform below adds the same tag to the head of your pages. Copy the tag from Settings → Sites in Usertick first (see Copy the install code); in the steps it reads:
The steps use the menu names in each platform’s own help pages. For a site built with your own code, see Install on your website for the script tag or Install with npm for React, Next.js, Vue, Nuxt, Angular, Svelte, Astro, Remix and Gatsby. After the change is live on your site, go to Settings → Sites, open the site’s tab and select Check now. The check reads the HTML of the home page, as Check the install describes.

Website builders and stores

WordPress

In WordPress, a header code plugin adds the tag to every page. These steps use WPCode, which is free.
  1. In the WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add New Plugin, search for WPCode, then install and activate it.
  2. Go to Code Snippets → Header & Footer and paste the tag into the Header box.
  3. Select Save Changes.
  4. If the site uses a page cache, clear it so that visitors get the new pages.
To add the tag without a plugin, print it from the child theme’s functions.php on the wp_head action. Changes to a parent theme are lost when the theme updates.

WooCommerce

A WooCommerce store runs on WordPress, so the tag is added in WordPress and covers the store’s pages too. Follow the WordPress steps.

Shopify

In Shopify, the tag goes into the theme’s layout file, which every storefront page uses.
  1. In the Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes.
  2. On the theme, select … and then Edit code.
  3. Open layout/theme.liquid and paste the tag right before </head>.
  4. Save the file. The widget loads the next time a storefront page opens.
Checkout pages don’t use this layout, so the widget doesn’t run there. While the store’s password page is on, visitors and the install check get the password page, which doesn’t include the tag.

Webflow

In Webflow, site-wide custom code adds the tag to every page.
  1. Open Site settings and select the Custom code tab.
  2. Paste the tag into the Head code section and select Save changes.
  3. Publish the site. Custom code goes live only on the published site.
Webflow allows custom code on a paid Workspace or on a site with an active Site plan.

Wix

In Wix, custom code added in the site’s settings loads on every page of the published site.
  1. In the site’s dashboard, go to Settings and select Custom Code under Development & integrations.
  2. Select + Add Custom Code and paste the tag.
  3. Under Add Code to Pages select All pages, under Place Code in select Head, then select Apply.
Wix runs custom code only on a published site with a connected domain. When the site moves to a different domain, Wix deletes its custom code, so add the tag again after a domain change.

Squarespace

In Squarespace, code injection adds the tag to the head of every page.
  1. Open the Code Injection panel in the site’s settings.
  2. Paste the tag into the Header field and select Save.
Code injection is part of the Core, Plus and Advanced plans. Squarespace doesn’t run injected code on checkout pages.

Framer

In Framer, a custom script added in the project’s settings loads on every page of the published site.
  1. Open the project’s settings and select the Custom Code tab.
  2. Select Add Script, name it, paste the tag and place it at the end of the head.
  3. Leave the script on all pages and publish the site.
Framer doesn’t load custom code in the canvas preview, so the widget appears only on the live site.

Ghost

In Ghost, code injection adds the tag to the head of every page.
  1. In Ghost Admin, go to Settings → Advanced → Code injection.
  2. Paste the tag into Site header and save.

HubSpot

For pages hosted on HubSpot, the site header HTML setting adds the tag to every page of a domain.
  1. Select the settings icon in the top navigation bar, then go to Content → Pages.
  2. Choose the domain in the Choose a domain to edit its settings menu.
  3. Paste the tag into Site header HTML and select Save.
The setting needs the Website settings permission, and it covers only content hosted on HubSpot.

BigCommerce

In BigCommerce, Script Manager loads the site’s file on every storefront page. It takes the file’s address, so there is no tag to paste.
  1. Go to Storefront → Script Manager and select Create a Script.
  2. Set Placement to Head, Location to Storefront pages, Script type to URL and Load method to Async, then choose a script category.
  3. Enter the file’s address as the script URL and select Save:
Script Manager is available on Stencil themes. In the store’s cookie banner, shoppers can turn off every script category except Essential, and a script in a category they turned off doesn’t load for them.

Magento

In Magento and Adobe Commerce, the HTML head setting of the design configuration adds the tag to every page of a store view.
  1. In the Admin, go to Content → Design → Configuration and select Edit on the store view.
  2. Under Other Settings, expand HTML Head and paste the tag into Scripts and Style Sheets.
  3. Select Save Configuration.
  4. If the storefront still shows the old pages, flush the cache.
On checkout pages, Magento runs only the scripts that the store’s Content Security Policy allows.

Bubble

In Bubble, the app’s header setting adds the tag to every page.
  1. Open the Settings tab and select SEO / metatags.
  2. Under Advanced settings, paste the tag into Script/meta tags in header.
  3. Deploy the app to live.

Carrd

In Carrd, a hidden embed element places the tag in the site’s head.
  1. Select Add Element, then Embed.
  2. Set Type to Code and paste the tag into the Code field.
  3. Set Style to Hidden and choose Head as the location, then publish the site.
Embeds need Carrd Pro Standard or higher. The builder doesn’t run the embed, so the widget appears only on the published site.

Unbounce

In Unbounce, Script Manager adds the tag to every landing page of a domain.
  1. Select Settings in the left menu, then Script Manager.
  2. Select Add a Script, name it and select Add Script Details.
  3. Set Placement to Head and paste the tag.
  4. Select the domains the script applies to and select Save Changes.
Script Manager works only with a custom domain, and each domain has to be selected for the script.

Joomla

Joomla has no setting for head code, so the tag goes into the site template’s file.
  1. In the administrator, go to System → Site Templates and select the template the site uses.
  2. In the Editor tab, open the file that contains the head (index.php in the default template) and paste the tag before </head>.
  3. Save the file.
A Joomla update overwrites changes to the default template. To keep the tag, create a child template first and edit that one.

Tag managers

A tag manager adds the tag after the page loads, so the tag isn’t in the page’s HTML and Check now can’t find it. To connect the site, also add the tag to the home page. Usertick runs one widget when both are on a page.

Google Tag Manager

In Google Tag Manager, a Custom HTML tag that fires on all pages loads Usertick.
  1. In the container, select Tags, then New.
  2. Select Tag Configuration, choose Custom HTML and paste the tag.
  3. Add the All Pages trigger, or a trigger for the pages that should show surveys.
  4. Save the tag, then submit and publish the container.

Adobe Tags

In Adobe Experience Platform Tags (formerly Adobe Launch), a rule with a custom code action loads Usertick on every page.
  1. Open the Rules tab and select Create New Rule.
  2. Add an event from the Core extension with the type Library Loaded (Page Top), then select Keep Changes.
  3. Add an action from the Core extension with the type Custom Code.
  4. Set the language to HTML, paste the tag and select Keep Changes.
  5. Select Save Rule, then add the rule to a library, build it and publish it.

Matomo Tag Manager

In Matomo Tag Manager, a Custom HTML tag loads Usertick on every page view.
  1. In the container, select Create New Tag and choose Custom HTML.
  2. Paste the tag and set Position to Head End.
  3. Attach a Pageview trigger, then create a version and publish it.
